Seattle’s AntiBlack Dating Culture

You know it’s crazy I have never truly thought that the West Coast would be AntiBlack. The media’s perception is that this is a place where Black people are seen as equals to all else. But the truth is startling especially in dating. If a Black person is straight and also monogamous they have very limited access to suitable dating partners in the West Coast. The problem is probably at it’s most extreme in North Seattle. And dating sites purposefully don’t show other Black people to keep me single. Here I was offered to join poly circles several times but not one serious monogamous relationship invite in 19 months. And there are so many black people in Seattle that prefer to date outside of their race that the options are super limited for many African descendants. Our relationships have become transactional. Where a man must spend money before he can even get a teaspoon of affection. The culture on the West Coast when it comes to dating is toxic and only we can change it. The stereotypes that only a white person can be a fulfilling and faithful partner in a monogamous long term relationship needs to be examined and decentered. Black love does exist but it does seem kind of rare especially the genuine non-transactional kind.
